

Overview
Thanks to faster broadband speeds, increased home computer specs and rendering capabilities, virtual worlds are set to revolutionise the web as we know it. It will also facilitate corporate requirements such us collaboration and linking dispersed workers. Clarity International was approached by one of its corporate clients to help it use Second Life, a prolific virtual world, as the new medium for their Dragons' Den Event. The client uses the BBC's Dragons' Den format to engage its employees and explore new ideas around products, business acquisitions and ways of working.
Brief
Clarity International was asked to build and deliver a Second Life island to host the Dragons' Den event and provide all the necessary technical and logistical support.
The objectives were:
To expose the client personnel to Web 2.0 apps/3D Web and create an opportunity for wider learning around a popular example (Second Life)
To show case entrepreneurial thinking within the business in an innovative way
To encourage and invite new people to put ideas forward from within the business
Outcome
Clarity International successfully delivered a rich and encompassing Second Life environment on time and budget, and received very positive feedback. The environment consisted of a fantasy "Dragons' Den" for the actual event and a "Corporate" area inclusive of HQ, Conference Rooms, and Auditorium for future use.
